Custom stands, 20 to 100 square metres
Exhibition stand design, with free 3D visuals before you commit
We design and build bespoke stands from scratch for one brand and one space. Based in Tamworth, about 20 minutes from the NEC Birmingham, with an in-house team of carpenters, electricians and fabricators. Designing and building stands since 2001.

What you get from the design stage
Design and 3D visuals are free of charge for qualifying enquiries. You see the stand before you spend anything on it.
The design work covers:
- A concept for your exact space, drawn to the floor plan you have been given, whether that is an island, peninsula, corner or shell scheme upgrade.
- 3D visuals so your team, and anyone above them who has to sign it off, can walk around the idea before it is built.
- Layout planning: where visitors enter, where the demo happens, where conversations sit down, where stock and coats disappear to.
- Graphics and messaging placement, including sightlines from the aisle and from across the hall.
- Lighting and electrics planned in, not added on.
- A clear quote broken down by element, so you can see what each part costs.
We build custom stands only, for spaces from 20 square metres up to 100 square metres.
How the process works, step by step
- Get in touch. Tell us the show, the venue, the space size and the floor plan. Rough budget helps, even a range.
- Brief. We talk through what the stand has to do. Product demos, meetings, hospitality, storage, a place to hide the kettle.
- Design and 3D visuals. You see the concept rendered. Free for qualifying enquiries.
- Revisions. We adjust. Height, shape, graphics, flow, budget.
- Quote sign off. Costs broken down by fabrication, graphics, electrics, transport, installation and breakdown.
- Venue approval and CDM. We handle the submissions.
- Build in Tamworth. Carpenters, electricians and fabricators, all in house.
- Transport and installation. We deliver, build on site and hand over a finished stand.
- Breakdown and storage. We de-rig after the show. Storage is quoted separately.
More than 75% of our work comes from existing clients, which is the part of the process we are proudest of.

Book your designer at least two months before the show
This is the single most useful piece of timing advice we can give.
Design approval and the CDM declaration can take up to six weeks. Venues will not let you build without them. So a stand builder should ideally be appointed at least two months before the show.
Finished artwork is needed four weeks before the show, so graphics can be printed, checked and mounted without a rush.
Working backwards from that: if your show is in twelve weeks, now is the right time to start the design conversation. If it is sooner, still get in touch. We would rather tell you honestly what is possible than let you find out late.
What a custom stand actually costs
We would rather be open about money than make you ask twice.
Fabrication and build is typically around half of any contract value. From £4,000 at the small end, £8,000 to £20,000 mid-range, up to £50,000 to £60,000 on large contracts.
- Graphics and print: typically £3,000 to £8,000 mid-range. Graphics-led builds can run £12,000 to £18,000.
- Electrics and lighting: typically £1,200 to £5,000, up to £6,000 on larger builds.
- Transport and logistics: typically £600 to £2,000.
- Installation: typically £2,000 to £5,000 depending on contract size.
- Breakdown: typically £1,500 to £4,000. De-rigging takes nearly as much labour as build-up, so it is a real cost, not a rounding error.
- Storage: quoted separately.
A typical mid-range custom build totals £16,000 to £44,000. Design and 3D visuals sit outside that, free for qualifying enquiries.
Custom, modular and hybrid: know the difference before you buy
Three categories get muddled constantly in the UK market. They are not the same thing.
Modular means off-the-shelf systems: pole and panel, pop-ups, aluminium frames with infill panels. Pre-manufactured to standard sizes at a standard height of about 2.5 metres. It can be self-built. It suits exhibitors doing five or more shows a year on a modest budget.
Hybrid is a mixture of modular and custom build, usually system light boxes combined with purpose-built elements. It is much less common now.
Custom build is designed and made from scratch for one brand and one space, with no system limits on height, shape or materials.
We explored modular systems many times over the years and invested in the kit. Clients consistently came back wanting more personalisation, greater height and shape, and a more dynamic presence. So we build custom only. Where a system component such as a light box is genuinely the right answer, we use it inside a custom build. We do not sell modular or hybrid as a product line.
The NEC is our home venue
Our workshop in Tamworth, Staffordshire is about 20 minutes from the NEC Birmingham. That means short transport runs, easy site visits and a team that can get back to the workshop and return the same day if something needs changing.
Venues we work at regularly:
- NEC Birmingham, our home venue
- The ICC, Birmingham
- Resorts World Arena, Birmingham
- Coventry Building Society Arena
- ExCeL London
- Olympia London
- Harrogate
- Plus international shows
We designed and built Lely's key UK event stand at the NEC for six consecutive years, and built the BSA Guns stand in Hall 6 at The Great British Shooting Show, NEC Birmingham.
Who we work with
Our clients include Soudal, Pinarello, Dentally, Journeo, Software of Excellence and Horiba Mira.
We are an ESSA member, and we have been designing and building bespoke exhibition stands since 2001.
The team is permanent and in house: carpenters, electricians and fabricators on our own payroll, not subcontracted per project. The person who draws your stand can walk into the workshop and talk to the person cutting it.
This page is a service page, so here is the honest summary. If you have 20 to 100 square metres booked at a UK show and you want a stand made for your brand rather than assembled from a system, we are a good fit. Send us the floor plan and we will send back ideas.
