Book your builder by February 2027, not March
The Commercial Vehicle Show runs 20 to 22 April 2027 at the NEC Birmingham. Work backwards from those dates and the diary is tighter than most people expect.
- Design approval and the CDM declaration can take up to six weeks. That paperwork is not optional and it will not be rushed.
- A stand builder should ideally be appointed at least two months before the show. For April 2027, that means having us on board by February 2027 at the latest.
- Finished artwork is needed four weeks before the show. For a 20 April opening, that puts your final graphics files with us in March 2027.
If you are reading this earlier than that, even better. Early appointment buys time for a proper brief, a site visit and revisions to the 3D visuals before anything is cut in the workshop. Design and 3D visuals are free of charge for qualifying enquiries, so there is no cost in starting the conversation now.
What 20 minutes from the NEC actually buys you
Our workshop is in Tamworth, Staffordshire, roughly 20 minutes from the NEC Birmingham. The NEC is our home venue. In practical terms, that proximity means:
- Site visits during design. We can walk your plot, check where the columns, services and access routes sit, and design around what is really there.
- The build crew on site early. Short run in, so our carpenters, electricians and fabricators are working on your stand while others are still on the motorway.
- Problems fixed from the workshop, not from a hotel room. If a panel needs remaking or a bracket needs fabricating on the Sunday before opening, it comes off our own machines and gets driven over.
- Local storage between shows. Your stand can be stored near the venue it is most likely to return to. Storage is quoted separately.
We also work regularly at the ICC and Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, Coventry Building Society Arena, ExCeL London, Olympia London, Harrogate and international shows. But the NEC is the venue we know best.

Stands that have to carry vehicles and heavy kit
Exhibitors in commercial vehicles, fleet operations, transport technology, workshop equipment and components usually bring something heavy with them. A stand that has to take a van, a tractor unit, a lift or a bench rig is a different engineering job from an empty carpeted plot. We design for that from the first sketch.
- Floor loading and ramps. Raised floors specified to take the load, with ramp gradients and edge detail that let a vehicle drive on and stay level.
- Vehicle access during build-up. The build programme sequenced so the vehicle goes in at the right moment and the structure closes around it afterwards, rather than being dismantled to get it in.
- Structure that frames the vehicle instead of competing with it. Height, sightlines and open elevations designed so the product is the hero and your brand sits above it.
- Electrics and lighting sized for demonstrations. Power for running kit, screens and moving parts, plus lighting that reads properly on metal and paintwork. Electrics and lighting typically run 1,200 to 5,000 GBP, up to 6,000 GBP on larger builds.
- Heavy footfall detail. Flooring, edges and fixings chosen to still look sharp on the third morning.
We have built for transport and automotive brands, including Journeo and Horiba Mira. Our permanent in-house team of carpenters, electricians and fabricators means the structural thinking and the making happen under one roof.
Custom build only, 20 to 100 square metres
So you can qualify us quickly: T2 Display build custom stands only, for space-only plots from 20 square metres up to 100 square metres. Designed and made from scratch for one brand and one space, with no system limits on height or shape.
We do not sell modular or hybrid stands as a product line. Modular is off-the-shelf systems, pole and panel, pop-ups and aluminium frames with infill panels, pre-manufactured to standard sizes at a standard height of about 2.5m. It suits exhibitors doing five or more shows a year on a modest budget, and it can be self-built. Hybrid is a mixture of modular and custom build, usually system light boxes combined with purpose-built elements, and it is much less common now. We have explored modular systems many times over the years and invested in the kit, but clients kept wanting more personalisation, greater height and shape, and a more dynamic presence. Where a system component such as a light box is genuinely the right answer, we use it inside a custom build.
If you have a small shell scheme or a package stand, we are honestly not the right fit, and a modular supplier will serve you better.
What a CV Show stand costs
No two plots are the same, but here is how a custom build breaks down so you can budget before you brief. Fabrication and build is typically around half of any contract value, from 4,000 GBP at the small end up to 50,000 to 60,000 GBP on large contracts, with 8,000 to 20,000 GBP mid-range.
- Graphics and print: typically 3,000 to 8,000 GBP mid-range. Graphics-led builds can run 12,000 to 18,000 GBP.
- Electrics and lighting: typically 1,200 to 5,000 GBP, up to 6,000 GBP on larger builds.
- Transport and logistics: typically 600 to 2,000 GBP.
- Installation: typically 2,000 to 5,000 GBP depending on contract size.
- Breakdown: typically 1,500 to 4,000 GBP. De-rigging takes nearly as much labour as build-up, so it is a real line, not an afterthought.
- Storage: quoted separately.
A typical mid-range custom build totals 16,000 to 44,000 GBP. Design and 3D visuals are free of charge for qualifying enquiries.
Exhibiting from outside the UK
Plenty of CV Show exhibitors are based overseas and will never see our workshop. That is normal and it works.
- Sign off at distance with 3D visuals. You approve the design from renders and drawings before anything is built, with revisions handled by email and call.
- We handle the ground work in the UK. Transport to the NEC, installation, breakdown and storage are all part of our full service, so nobody from your team needs to manage contractors in a country they do not know.
- Your stand stays here between editions. We can store it in the UK and refresh graphics for the next show, which usually costs far less than building again from scratch.
